About BRHS

As the largest healthcare provider in East Gippsland, Bairnsdale Regional Health Service (BRHS) provides services including comprehensive primary care, acute care, aged care, community and home based health services to a growing population of 40,000 people across a land mass of 21,000 square kilometres.

BRHS operates three fixed campuses in conjunction with itinerant healthcare services in remote communities:
  • The main hospital campus is situated in Bairnsdale and incorporates acute, sub-acute and aged care services.
  • The Community Health centre, also situated in Bairnsdale, supports Community and district nursing, public dental services, Post Acute Care and our primary Adult Day Centre. These facilities are also utilised to support BRHS health promotion and prevention activities such as pulmonary and cardiac education and the Sustainable Farm Families healthcare program.
  • The newest campus is located in Paynesville and offers a range of community healthcare services to the local area including podiatry, physiotherapy, counselling, continence services and Women’s health.
As the major employer in East Gippsland, we employ more than 500 staff, in both fulltime and part time positions. We are committed to ongoing improvements and continued education opportunities for our staff so they are equipped to meet the changes in the health needs of our region.

We achieved Australian Council of Healthcare Standards accreditation status in August 1999 and gained re-accreditation in 2002 and a further four year term in 2006 until 2010.
