Allied Health Admin Assistant Jan Traynor received a well-deserved pat on the back from appreciative colleagues this week after holding down the fort while her team was short-staffed.

Anyone that has visited Allied Health can tell you that the reception desk is a busy place, and it typically takes two admin assistants to keep it functioning.

“It’s a challenging job at the best of times, and Jan put in an exceptional effort at a time when we really needed her.”

But on Tuesday the admin team was down a few players and Jan was asked to rise to the occasion and tackle that task solo.

And rise to the occasion she did.

“Jan did an amazing job, all day,” said Dietetics Team Leader Wendy Newcomen. “It’s a challenging job at the best of times, and Jan put in an exceptional effort at a time when we really needed her.”

It’s probably not the first crisis Jan has averted at BRHS.

She joined the health service back in 1987, working as an admin assistant at what used to be the dental and consulting offices where the consulting rooms are today.

Since then she’s turned her hand to a number of roles, and her wealth of experience, knowledge and calm and diligent manner continue to shine through today.

Good on you, Jan!
