When you ask people why they do it, they give different answers.

“Because I’m a Mum, and in that job you don’t get sick leave.”

“Because my wife told me to.”

“Because I want to protect my patients.”

“Because I want to protect my family.”

“Because as a health worker it’s the right thing to do.”

Whatever your reason, getting a flu shot each year is the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones against influenza (flu.)

Flu is a contagious respiratory disease that can lead to serious illness, hospitalization, or even death.

Each year the flu affects thousands of Victorians and puts an enormous amount of pressure on our hospitals and health system. Over 3,500 avoidable deaths occur in Australia every year from complications of seasonal flu, including pneumonia.

Here at BRHS we’re providing free flu shots for our staff and encouraging them to get a flu shot as part of our commitment to providing quality care to the local community.

All BRHS staff are urged to check the flu shot schedule today and take just 5 minutes out of your day to get it done.

Community members should speak to their local doctor about the flu vaccination.

Spread the word, not the flu!
