Once a month they get together to listen to country music, to play country music, to share their favourite songs and to sing along.

The Bairnsdale Country Music Club has a concert at the Bairnsdale RSL on the 2nd Sunday of each month, brought together by a shared passion for the music they love.

And they raise money for community causes they believe in.

The BRHS Oncology Unit was the very fortunate recipient of a donation of $1,000 from the Bairnsdale Country Music Club this week.

“Many people in the community have needed the services of the Oncology Unit,” says club treasurer Marj White. “We’re very grateful that it’s here. It’s an important facility for this community because it means people can stay right here for their treatment rather than having to travel somewhere else.”

Associate Nurse Unit Manager Wendy Whitechurch says she’s hugely appreciative of the generous support that local people continue to show for the Oncology Unit.

“It wouldn’t be the same service without them,” she says.
