Do You Take Regular Medicines? Then You Need to Pocket One of These.

If taking medicines is a regular part of your life, you really need to keep track of exactly what those medicines are.

If you were to have a health emergency, or if a doctor or pharmacist was wanting to prescribe you something new, they’d need to know what you were already taking.

Next time you’re at BRHS, grab one of these MedicineWise Medicines Lists from our Pharmacy. They’re free and simple to use. Or you can download and print one here.

Not just the brand name or what’s written on the box, but also the strength, how often you take them, and how long you’ve been taking them.

All that info can be hard to remember.

Lucky for you, you don’t have to.

BRHS Chief Pharmacist Margie Griffiths says keeping track of your medicines not only helps keep you safe and healthy, it will also save you a lot of time.

“Medication safety is very important to us, and so when we’re dispensing to a patient we do thorough checks to make sure different types of medicines are okay to take together, and that we know everything we need to know about that person’s medication history,” Margie says.

“If they don’t have a thorough record of what they are taking, then we have to do some detective work with them. That can take a lot of time, and for them that means sitting around and waiting.”

“However, if that same person has an accurate record of their medications all written down on the Medicines List, then the process moves much faster. They’re in and out quickly and easily.”

Margie says it’s important to keep a record of over-the-counter as well as prescription medications.
