Eight-Week Challenge in Theatre Has Its Winners, and Losers

Georgia Buckley (centre) lost 7.2 kg in eight weeks in the Peri Operative Service weight loss challenge. Kim Waddell and Dayna Stewart each lost 6.9 kg.

Some mornings, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’d accidentally walked into an exercise class.

Eight weeks ago, 26 nurses, doctors, and administrative staff in the Peri Operative Service embarked on a weight loss challenge and competition.

There were fitness workouts completed prior to commencement of theatre lists, which included daily push ups, a skipping challenge to and from Theatre (with patients joining in with encouragement,) pilates and a brief Zumba session or two.

All staff really got behind the challenge, either by entering the competition themselves or through encouragement for those working to lose weight.

A total of 55.4 kg was lost by all staff!

Congratulations to everyone that got involved, and particularly Georgia Buckley, Dayna Stewart and Kim Waddell, that lost about 7 kg each!
