It’s great when people genuinely like the people they work with.

They are a tight bunch, our Sonographers.

“Tim is like my backup Dad,” says Olivia Clemm, sharing a joke with her friend and colleague Tim Walden. “He cried when I told everyone I was pregnant last year.”

(Tim, for the record, this year celebrated 41 years as a Radiographer and Sonographer at BRHS! Good on you, Tim!)

If this is the kind of work environment you’re looking for, get in touch with us. We are now looking for a Sonographer to join our small, highly-valued department.

Originally from New Zealand, Olivia has been at BRHS for about six years, after what was supposed to be a short trip to Australia turned into love and life, marriage and family.

Becoming a mum inclined her to sell the motorbike that had been a passion for many years. But here in East Gippsland there are many other things that drive and inspire her.

“I love the outdoors, love the hiking and trails,” she says. “It reminds me of New Zealand in a lot of ways. You have the ocean and the beaches on one side, and the snowfields on the other just an hour away.”

And, like many, the burgeoning local food and restaurant scene is a draw, too.

“The Long Paddock, in Lindenow…” she begins, referring to the much-heralded restaurant in the small town of Lindenow that attracts serious foodies and gastronomy buffs from all over Australia and the world. “Then there’s Mr D. here in Bairnsdale, and Sardine in Paynesville…”

We’re spoiled for choice, here. The food is seriously good.

“We’ve been able to buy property with the space. We never would have been able to do that in Melbourne.”

For Olivia, the friendly community of her team at BRHS, the outdoor attractions of this region, and of course the food are hugely important to maintaining a good work-life balance.

So too is the fact that you don’t have to be a millionaire to buy a house with a nice bit of land!

“The fact that property is affordable here is another huge drawcard for us,” Olivia said. “I love getting out into our veggie garden, which we only have because we’ve been able to buy property with the space. We never would have been able to do that in Melbourne. Designing, building, and landscaping our own place has been so rewarding.”

If that’s the kind of environment you’re looking for, get in touch with us.

We are now looking for a Sonographer to join our small, highly-valued department.

In our medium-sized regional hospital, you’ll need to be a true “generalist” with the ability to scan whatever might come through the door.

We promise you that every day will be different, and that you’ll never stop learning.
